About This Workshop
This presentation will cover understanding and managing the behavior of high conflict clients, including their possible personality disorders, recent brain research regarding their ability to manage stress and conflict, and methods of managing or “containing” their high-conflict behavior.
We will address common ethical challenges presented by high-conflict clients including standards of practice and tips for managing the counter-transference which often occurs. We will discuss dealing confidently with the court system as a therapist, as an expert and as a defendant. Lastly, we will address risks of client violence toward others and toward professionals, with tips for managing and reducing these risks. This seminar will not address specific state laws, but rather the general principles and methods of working with high conflict clients while maintaining ethical professional behavior and managing risks.
